On 15 January 2025, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized an orientation ceremony for newly admitted students as part of its efforts to facilitate their smooth transition into university life. The event provided students with an overview of the university’s academic environment, institutional facilities, student services, rules and regulations, and available support mechanisms. During the orientation, students were also informed about the different forms of assistance provided by BUBT, particularly the support available to students from low-income and financially disadvantaged families. By creating an opportunity for students to learn about these facilities and policies at the beginning of their academic journey, the event helped ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent eligible students from accessing the support they may need to continue their studies successfully.

The orientation initiative is closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: No Poverty, as it promotes awareness of institutional support designed to reduce financial barriers to higher education. Providing low-income students with information about available financial assistance and support services can help them remain engaged in higher education, improve their educational attainment, and enhance their future employment and income-generating opportunities. Through such inclusive student-support measures, BUBT contributes to reducing socioeconomic vulnerability, promoting equal educational opportunities, and strengthening students’ capacity to achieve sustainable livelihoods, thereby contributing to broader efforts to break the cycle of poverty.
