The Admission Committee of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), chaired by the Vice Chancellor, met on 27 May 2025 to discuss admission and waiver matters. The committee decided that the existing waiver policy would be followed in the Fall Semester 2025, starting on 15 July 2025, and that it may be revised and modified before the Spring Semester 2026. It also recommended extending the admission deadline for Fall 2025 until the second week of the semester, and proposed a 15% tuition waiver for evening programs from Spring 2026, with a further 2.5% waiver for students paying full tuition in a single instalment.
This initiative supports SDG 1.3.1 by setting out admission arrangements and a waiver policy that reduce financial barriers for students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds at the point of entry. It relates to UN Targets 1.3 and 1.A by directing institutional resources toward people at risk of exclusion from higher education because of poverty. This contributes to SDG 1 by widening access to university education, which improves students’ employment and income prospects and helps break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
